Photographs of wild animals in action in their natural environments is taken by world famous English photographer Steve Bloom. The pictures have been published in several highly prestigious magazines and is also presented in a book.

A P P L E · I N C ’ S · Macs will be a plattform for video gaming to seriously count on in the future. That is clear scince EA and Id declared that they will develop and publish titles for Mac. The game companies top management attended Apple World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2007 held in San Francisco.

CEO Steve Jobs gave a speech on Apple’s strong efforts, as the strenghts of the upcomming operative system, OSX 10.5 Leopard that will be released in October. Also the web browser Safari will be released and now it is the fastest browser on the market. A public beta was persented on the Apple web, and then downloaded 1 miljon times in the first 48 hours.

A S T R I D · L I N D G R E N the writer of world famous childrens books and the mother of Pippi Longstocking and Emil from Lonneberg has her 100th anniversery this year. At the City Square in Vimmerby, Astrid Lindgren’s hometown (in Smaland, Sweden), she has been revarded with a new statue in bronze. The statue shows the writer in older days in front of her working desk and typewriter. The viewer could have a seat in front of her and take a rest on a heated chair. The writers daughter Karin Nyman toghether with the Minister of culture, Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth, inagurated the statue last friday. Marie Loise Ekman is the main artist that has crafted the artwork, in cooperation with several other artists that has contributed with different parts of the statue.

Now the joint forces of Under the surface community and BFR has united under the obvious name Radion (The Radio).

Today I host my show TomSmokeShow (TSS) on the topic Spring, alcohol and tech. I play a lot of funny independent music, especially game related stuff. For this I have been out and recorded some audio. The picture shows where I placed the mp3-player for sampling some bike sounds where I jump at the pedals, for a tune on anoying senior citizen bikers, I will play today.

KTH and Excitera Entrepreneur Ship presented the Game Developers Night in cooperation with Grin a Game Developer based in Stockholm. Several Game developers from Grin, the developers of Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon, Advanced Warfighter 2 franshice for PC.

Eric Pettersson Lead of Art Department, presented how the art are developed for the games with application of new effects and how the environments was built up in a dessert setting. New methods for the creation of athmospheric light effect was adopted.

Simon Viklund Lead Audio Designer presented how he produces audio content for the Ghost Recon game. Data ecconomy was one of the characeristic topics. An other was how to manage, directional clues in 2D in cooperation with 3D sound.

The PC Gamer Magazine was also represented and made a questionaire survey on the visiting future game developers.

OPEN HOUSE at Swedish Institute for Computer Science (SICS) and the Interactive Institute (II) was conducted at Electrum in Kista Science City April 8. Lectures was presented by prominent individuals from the industry.

Sten Minör, general manager from Sony Ericsson research department and member of the Lund University LUCAS board, presented interesting information on multimedia based mobile phone technology. Convergence was the buzzworld, which means that all devices in the future will be more and more conectable and able to interchange information in different ways. Standard formats for audio and video will used.

Olle Wästberg manager of Swedish Institute orated about marketing at a national level, a futuristic computer party event, the NextFest, that was held in New York City by Wire Magazine, and are now planned to be conducted in Stockholm soon. He also speaked about the House of Sweden in Second Life (SL). He came in a vivid discussion with a gentelman in the audience that claimed that crime and flying genitals was major issues of this graphical digital world. My avatar in SL is TomSmokeDagger btw.

Mats Liljedahl and Niegel Papworth from the Interactive Institute presented research from the Sonic Studio on auditative video games. The audio components role as carrier of emotions and affects was visualised, sorry I mean audialized, analyzed and discussed.

Adam Dunkels, new promoted doctor from SICS, informed us on wireless networks of dispersed sensors. Cheep technology make it possible to build clusters of processor embedded independent units that messure, collect data and communicate with each other.

In the lunch break refreshments , snacks and an awful lot of mozarella subs was digested. The audience had a ball, mingled, chatted and laughted around the expo where the research departments presented their projects in a fancy way with posters etc. I discussed educational and computer convent topics with some people from the educational sector, and also came over a book on the Science of the artificial (Simon 1969) by Svante Beckman et al.

THE NEW FUTURISTIC Swedish Embassy ”The House of Sweden” in Washington, D.C. is designed by Gert Wingårdh’s firm who also designs a big block in the reconceptualized newtown Vällingby, Sweden.

The new embassy will open in two weeks. Parallell with the construction of the physical building, the building will be implemented in a Virtuality Design on the Second Life World (with 3 Million residals) on Internet.

On the Second Life version of the Swedish Embasy, Olle Wästberg declares: ”It will have answers to questions on all aspects of Sweden,” Olle Wastberg is general director of the Swedish Institute, an organization which promotes the country’s image abroad, said on Tuesday.

GOD JUL MEANS MERRY CHRISTMAS in Swedish, ”written in windows” :) It's the facade of Swedish State Power Board HQ i Racksta, Stockholm, a company I used to work for some years ago as project assistant.

Remeber that without electric power there would be no, computers, digital technology, TVs, telephones, radios, etc. etc. I'm right now reading McLuhans Media where he claim that the content in media equals the media format. Economy Nobelprize Lecture & Wii

VISITED THE LECTURE ON ECONOMICS held at Aula Magna at Stockholm University yesterday. Edmund S. Phelps from Columbia University in New York City, USA, held a speach on macroeconomics and his research on rational expectations model, rational choice, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The models and theories Phelps presented emphazised the overall goal of good life, vitalism, self realization and good economy as a result of interaction of demands and action of consumers, producers, financial instruments like the stock market, innovators, inventors, entrepreneurs. He talked over creative inventors meeting investors/finance, employee behaviour, price rasings in competition, consumer evaluation and adaption in a linked chain or networked world.

Conclussion Everybody has the right to participate and be included in the economy to serv as good members of the society. Capitalism can serve justice, inclussion and the good life.

Afterwards the students in the auditorium jumped up on the stage, took photographs, asked questions and mingled with Phelps.

VISITED MY LOCAL GAME STORE in Vallingby (aka Vixton) with an old friend and his young son after the lecture in Stockholm city.

8 December is the N-Day, the new generation game console Wii being introduced by Nintendo. Wii is innovative with it's new motion sensitive controllers and clean white design and will compete with Microsoft XBox 360 and Sony Playstation 3.

Would the men behind the Wii be the winners of the Nobelprize in innovation and design in 2006, if there where any?
